Eustace,
There are no words that can explain the feeling your family or I can express for how saddened we are by your death. Yes you were a victim of wrong doing but you had to have been a wonderful person and most likely a forgiving one to. Even though i don't know you I know your name and I know that your spirit will live forever in the eyes of all. God Bless you and your family. - submitted: 4/1/2002 11:07:22 AM

Jane, though no comments were made on this page regarding you, I felt compelled to say something in your honor. What a tragedy to have all of this loss of life done by a senseless, cowardly act of violence. May peace find you in your resting place and to all of your friends and family missing you today and everyday since this tragedy. And may the people involved in this terrible act of violence feel the pain of all of these victims families forever. They are not martyrs they are cowards that did not deserve to walk this earth. Rest in peace. - submitted: 8/30/2002 7:22:56 PM

Robert,
Even now June 26, 2003 you and all the others from that malevolence day September 11 are remembered just as if it happened yesterday. Although some time has past, your senseless departure due to a radical group still makes no sense today. Everyone uses the word hero, but for a better word, you and the others will, until the end of time be an icon. God bless you, your family, and friends. - submitted: 6/26/2003 3:21:34 PM

I did not know him but as I made a quilt block to honor him, I felt that he was more than just a name. He was a father, a fiance, friend and an avid basketball fan. My heart goes out to his family and friends as we share this trajedy with you. My efforts as a quilter leave a little to be desired, but I felt that the eagle represented the freedom that that we all strive for and that Andrew & all the others that died that day has unified all of us in that freedom. - submitted: 8/27/2002 8:06:23 PM

I submitted a prior tribute for Andrew & submitted it before I signed my name. As I said, I made a quilt block in the United In Memory Quilt that is being done to commemorate every victim of 9/11. My block with an eagle was to represent Andrew's spirit as it soars over & above the maliciousness of the act of these terrorists. I hope that the quilt will appear at ground zero when it is finished. Andrew & all those people did not die in vain. They exemplify the American spirit.

When I was a hockey-mad teenager, dreaming of being the first woman to play in the NHL, Ace was playing left wing for the Boston Bruins. I used to spend hours on my backyard rink slapping a puck around, imagining how wonderful it would be if some day he and I could be on the same team. That was 30 years ago. He was a hero to me then. I guess he still is, and I miss him…

Ace, Kathy and Todd,
As the anniversary of September 11th roles around, you are constantly on my mind and in my prayers. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this has been for you and will be for you for a long time to come. Ace was a great guy who made everyone he came into contact with as comfortable as he could. He did that with a smile and a laugh. I certainly will never forget him. Take care and know that I am thinking of you all.

To Ace's Family:

One of my fondest memories was playing in a golf tournament on Cape Cod nearly 10 years ago with many of the current and former Boston Bruins. Ace Bailey was in the foresome that won the overall net score for the tournament. He had a great sense of humor and brought a lot of fun to a very worthwhile charity endeavor that day. God bless you.

I remember one of the things that haunted me the most about that day was that a local sports channel interview Wayne Gretzky and he commented that he'd wondered what your last moments on the plane would have been like; in his words "Ace was a man of action" -Your story is just one of many thousands, but it really touched me, and though we will never really know what your last moments were like I know Wayne was right about what he'd said. Kathys story. She was born in a very small village in Macedonia region of Greece, use to tell that as child her school bus was a sad donkey. She moved to USA at 12 knowing just how to say "hello" in english. We met at university when she was 20. Her english perfect, no accent at all. Her parents were very poor, but hard working Greek immigrants in Manchester, NH. Her father Evangelous never learned english was a house painter, her mother Soultana worked in a factory. Kathy graduated with a simple B.S. in accounting from a not very good state university. She loved "numbers" back then because it was easier than english. But, it was obvious to all, she was very talented even at a very young age. Kathy moved from NH to Brooklyn, found a job at small local bank. She advanced in her career quickly, moving to Seattle, then Chicago, her career growing to the highest level imaginable. But she never forgot where she came from. She was a simple village girl from Greece, understood family and freinds most of all. She shared her success with all. On morning of Sept.11th, she was 44, it was her 1st day of work on her new job as VP FINANCE No. America, Marsh (basically the biggest job in international banking on earth, pretty good for a village greek girl). Her executive suite office was 90th floor Tower One. HER 1st day, she arrived to her new office at 8:40, 10 minutes later, a Boeing 737 literally comes thru her office windows. Hopefully Kathy was killed "instantly". Like all who lost loved ones on that day we hope it was at least quick. No trace was ever found of her. Kathys dream was to retire at 50, help family and friends and enjoy life. Later discovered that Kathy was sending money back to her little Greek village to build a new school for children. She would have done MUCH more had 9/11 not happenend. Kathy, we miss you. Why you and others were murdered is a question for for politics and history. Hopefully others will not feel the loss of loved ones, on a purely political murder on the world stage. Seen over and over again, for years! We miss you. But, you taught love. Thank you Kathy - submitted: 2/4/2010 1:09:01 AM

I was your platoon sergeant in the NY Army National Guard. It is a time honored tradition in the army for a platoon sergeant to break-in and train the brand new lieutant. It was my honor to have been your platoon sergeant. The one thing that was evident early on in meeting you was the empathy you had for your soldiers. It was what endeared you to the men.It showed me that you were not the average lieutenant that comes and goes in a sergeants career.I liked you from the very beginning, unusual for a platoon sergeant like me.(I guess I knew subconciously you were special from the start.)In all our times together in the field, and the many late night talks of military stratagey and the challenges of military leadership you had the one thing that can't be taught…you cared. We train in our careers knowing that one day we can be called to give the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield. As a fireman you gave yours to help innocent people with little care for your own health and welfare. Why am I not surprised…rest in peace LT. I take comfort knowing you are up there looking down on us.

I don't think that I will ever understand why evil took all of you away from us, but GOD had a different plan for all of you. Although I didn't loose anyone, I personaly feel that the world lost someone that day. To your family members and the family members of all who were lost…my heart is with you and my prayers will be too…forever.. God Bless and stand strong.

Hello,

I didn't personally know Scott D. Bart of his family but I wanted to tell the family that I placed a flag on his name yesterday at the 9-11 Memorial Walk in Sacramento, California. The memorial service was very touching. I don’t know what it was, but I felt drawn to Scott’s name. As soon as I got home I googled his name and was devastated to learn his story. I am so sorry he was taken so young and I can only hope his family has been able to keep his legacy alive. But please know his story touched my heart and the flag was waving in his honor yesterday. - submitted: 9/12/2011 9:45:20 AM

Hi. I received a Mercy Band Bracelet with Guy Barzvi's name on it, and I was curious to see and learn about him and his life. I want to tell each and everyone out there that knew him or even knew anyone that passed away to keep the faith, be strong and everyone will get through it all together. I was lucky enough to not know anyone who had passed away but I feel so bad for all of the families and friends who lost love ones. I hope you all can get through it and celebrate there life and how much time you were blessed enough to be around them and enjoy there presents. If you ever are feeling lonly you should listen to a song by Steve Warner called Holes in the floor of heaven. The basic message talks about there are holes in the floor of heaven and there tears are pouring down and they are all watching you and wishing that they could be with you so if your ever lonly just remember they can see you and will always be looking out for you always, no matter what. GOD BLESS - submitted: 3/7/2003 9:41:57 PM

It may be May 2005, but I am happy to have found this memorial. David, your wonderful family is a reflection of what a wonderful man you were. I've moved away from N.J. but I have not forgotten. Nor will I ever forget.
May God's grace and care for your wonderful wife and children take the place of yours.

Out of all the people that were involved in the Hijacking of any planes and the people in the WTC and the Pentegon I think that the people of United Airlines Flight 93 were the bravest. Unlike the Firefighters of Police you were not signed up for this sort of thing, but you felt that it was your duty to you country and your family and most of all your self to fight back against the hijackers. You gave your own life knowing the chance of you surviving was small, just so that another place was destroyed and possibly thousands more people die. To everyone on Flight 93 and everyone who died on the 11th of September, we will always honour your bravery and courage. You will not be forgotten and I think I can speak for the whole world when I say this. WE SALUTE YOU

Todd, I will entrust this message to your strong and courageous wife, Lisa. There have been many heroes in this tragedy. However, YOU are my hero. When the tragedy happened, I was numb. I must admit that I think we are becoming so desensitized by the media, that I distanced myself at first. It was like watching one of many scenes in Bosnia. I couldn't relate it to ME - to US in the states. Then when I heard the Operator who was the last one to speak for you, tell us your words, I was VERY moved by the fact that you had it together enough to pray. And when I heard her say what you said - "LET'S ROLL!" the moment before you got up and went with others to stop those maniacal evil men, it all struck me. I burst into tears and I sobbed. I can't afford to get a bracelet with your name on it, but I will NEVER forget you, Todd. When it gets tough in life, I have a new war cry: LET'S ROLL! Thank you, Todd. God bless you richly... It has almost been a year since the tragic event occurred, and I still find myself tearing up when just thinking about it all. Granted, I knew none of the victims personally, but I truly feel like I owe all of them my love and prayers. I live in Georgia, I am thankful everyday that nobody in my life has been taken away because of such an event, but now you never know what could happen. I just thank god everyday for every good thing in my life and hope that nothing like that happens again. Todd Beamer was known as a true hero to all americans, even to many others that lived all around the world. His wife is always in the news, and she is definitely a survivor. I don't think I could have handled everything the way she did, and I just want her to know that I look up to her strength and courage. I feel that everyone that lost their life on that awful day is a hero in their own way, and I owe my life to them. It's amazing how America can stick together when a tragedy occurs. Todd Beamer will definitely be missed, along with so many others. Thank you and the others that helped you for stopping the terrorists harm even more people. Don't weep for me

When it was my time to fall
'Twas for my country's call

That I gave my all,

I did freely give,
And in her freedom and her courage

The Beamer Family,
Before September 11, 2001, I never truly knew what a genuine hero was or if one even really existed. My prayers are for you every SINGLE day. Honestly, not a day goes by where I don't think about the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001. I think about Lisa and the boys and Morgan, and what life could have offered them if their incredible husband/father were still around. Then I read "Let's Roll" by Lisa Beamer and realized she FULLY relied on God to guide her and her faith, love, trust and hope for the future is placed only in His hands. It's evident that's the kind of people she and Todd were raised to be. However, in the midst of such a horrifying tragedy Lisa's walk with God remained a strong one. She has encouraged me to trust in God more and to strengthen my relationship with Him. That's what Todd lived for and is now living happily in heaven awaited the arrival of his family. I was recently assigned a paper for English class to select an American Hero and write an essay on ANYONE I thought filled the description. Of course, Todd Beamer was the FIRST person I thought of and the one I wrote my paper on. His love, mercy, and patience will live on through his wife and children. They have hope because Jesus DIED for ALL of us. I pray daily for this family and that God continues to bless Lisa and her children as the future can be unclear and at times, scary. I regret that I never came across Todd Beamer in my lifetime but am encouraged that I came across Lisa and Todd's TRUE story. I realize genuine heroes DO indeed exist in a world filled with such a powerful hatred. The only thing that can be done now, is to keep Todd's memory alive through our personal choices and acts of heroism. I am so thankful that Lisa was so courageous as to share her wonderful message of Todds' and her faith with the world.
May God bless you and keep you this holiday season and year round. My prayers and thoughts are with you always.
Thanks Todd M. Beamer, for showing the world a true AMERICAN hero.
All my love,

I firmly believe that the nation as it was before September 11th fell with the Towers and the Pentagon roof. I just as firmly believe that you and others like you on Flight 93 created a new America. I will "Roll" for you, Todd. God bless you and your bravery, a true knight for our times. - submitted: 7/30/2003 9:19:30 PM

THIS MOTHER'S SON - A HERO'S TALE
I STAND HERE ON THIS SEPTEMBER DAY;
I FELT I HAD TO COME.
I DID NOT KNOW HIM. WHY AM I HERE,
TO SEE THIS MOTHER'S SON?
I HEARD THE STORY; I KNOW THE TAIL,
ABOUT THAT FATEFUL DAY.
THIS MOTHER'S SON, WHY WOULD HE RUN,
TO HIS DEATH ALL THE WAY?
THEY SAY HE RAN TO SAVE A LIFE,
WITH NO THOUGHT OF HIS OWN.
I WONDER WHY HE HAD NO FEAR,
THE RISK HE MUST HAVE KNOWN.
WAS IT THAT HE WISHED TO DIE,
NO LONGER LOVING LIFE?
DID HE FORGET THOSE HE LEFT BEHIND,
HIS CHILDREN AND HIS WIFE?
IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN HIM,
THAT I MIGHT BETTER UNDERSTAND.
WHAT IT WAS THAT DROVE HIM ON,
THIS BRAVE YET HUMBLE MAN?
BUT IT IS OVER NOW; HE IS LAID TO REST,
FOR EVERYONE TO SEE.
HE GAVE HIS LIFE, THIS MOTHER'S SON,
A HERO LIES BEFORE ME.
HIS MOTHER NOW IS PASSING BY,
HER EYES LOCK ON TO MINE.
SHE TURNS TO ME AND HOLDS MY HAND;
I FEEL SHE KNOWS MY MIND.
SHE SAYS HER SON DID NOT WISH TO DIE;
HE CARED SO MUCH YOU SEE.
HE LOVED ALL LIFE JUST LIKE HIS OWN;
HE'D DO THE SAME FOR YOU OR ME.
SHE TURNS FROM ME AND WALKS AWAY,
HER EYES FILLING UP WITH TEARS.
SHE LOOKS OUT TO THE HORIZON,
REMEMBERING FONDER YEARS.
WHEN THIS MOTHER'S SON WAS JUST A BABE,
HELD SOFTLY TO HER BREAST.
HE WOULD GROW UP TO BE A HERO,
ONE OF AMERICA'S BEST.

Of all the numerous research I have done for school related projects about September 11th, I find the only thing that can truly bring tears to my eyes and a smile to my face at the same time is the story of Todd Beamer, "Let's Roll!". Todd Beamer is a truly amazing person with such a strong will to fight with everything he had. The world lost a great person, along with many others and he will certainly never be forgotten. - submitted: 9/11/2003 6:28:36 AM

Dear Beamer Family,
Sometimes I curse the media for showing this country every single act of violence that occurs, but with the same breath I am thankful that I was able to witness this act of violence because in a sense it has brought me closer with family and friends. Two years ago today, I remember being glued to the television and receiving phone call after phone call from family that lived far away. I also remember that our country froze in time, not just in NY or DC or PA, but also here in OK. And Lisa, I think of you and your family, and try and put myself in your shoes. How many phone calls did you get that day? How many times did you walk away and sit down in front of the television? Your husband's name became a common link between many Americans including me and my own family and we all realized just how fragile lives are. God had a purpose for your husband as he does for you. God's purpose for your husband has already been fulfilled, I hope that your purpose may live on. Two years ago I had invisioned how this country would be an inspiration and encouragement to you, but in fact you became the inspiration and the encouragement to many of us. May God bless you and keep you safe as you and your boys live on. Melissa, Tulsa, OK. - submitted: 9/11/2003 11:48:10 AM

Dear Todd, When I heard of your heroic act, your name rang a bell, and I recalled seeing you in passing, in the halls of Wheaton Christian High School, always with a big grin on your face. It was hard not to notice that smile, and I saw it almost every day, on my way to class. Now, I feel honored to have that little precious memory, even though I never knew you. God bless you, and thank you for showing the light inside you to me and all of the world. --Heidi E. - submitted: 9/11/2003 1:36:35 PM

It is two years ago today. It seems like just yesterday and like a lifetime ago at the same time. May Lisa and her children and all of the families of the losses of September 11th know that many of us still think about you often………it may not always seem that way because life inexplicably seems to go on……but you will NEVER be forgotten…….not any of you.

Dear Beamer family, I am so glad I found this site so that I can finally express my deep appreciation for the sacrifice Todd made for our country and the bravery that Lisa has shown in the aftermath. I was pregnant with my first child at the time of the attacks. Out here in Texas I was feeling sorry for myself because my husband had lost his job and my ankles were swelling. How silly it seemed after that day. Lisa, your courage, faith and graciousness helped me to regain my personal walk with Jesus Christ. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your daughter was born just about a month after my son. When I celebrate the many milestones that Zachary meets, I thank God for every minute that I have with him and pray that your children will be able to understand what a tremendous effect you and your husband's amazing faith and walk with the Lord have had on our country and the people in it. You gave a name and a face to the people killed in the vicious attack against our country. Thank you for making it such a beautiful and positive image of bravery and courage. The fact that Todd had the forethought to stop and pray before they charged the cockpit with the other heroes only testifies to the strength of his beliefs and the fact that he loved his Lord as much as his family. May God bless you and your children as well as the rest of the families affected by Sept. 11th, and may our country continue to be one "Under God" and remain in his blessed protection. Whether it be 2 years or 100, may we never forget… Lauren, Stockdale, TX ronaldandlauren@yahoo.com - submitted: 9/11/2003 8:36:32 PM

Todd, I'm letting your amazing, strong wife read this for you. I read the book your wife put out and I was crying half the time. I know that many died on Sept. 11, and many truly are heros, but Todd, YOU are my hero. When Lisa wrote about you saying "Let's roll!", I realized that you made a valent attempt to stop those evil men. May you be with God as He takes care of your wife and children.

To Lisa: God Bless you with love, money, strengh, joy to come, peace, hope, help, and anything else you may need. You are an amazingly strong woman and you are my role model. I read your book and I am in awe of you. If you need anything, including prayer, e-mail me: kkdogz@yahoo.com

On Sept. 11th, Paul wanted to be with his daughter, taking her to her first day of pre-school. Today is my son's first day of pre-school and all day I've been thinking about Paul. Paul did everything for his girls, his dedication and patience with them would sometimes make me feel terribly limitted as a parent. I remember one time I found the three of them playing in the backyard. Paul had some paint out and there was some kind of dough under a bowl and everyone was covered in flour. As my 2 year old rushed to the table to disrupt the bowl, Paul stopped him and told him how upset the girls would get if their "cake" was disturbed. I remember asking him how he got stuck with this duty, and he attempted to shrug off my suggestion that this time with his daughters was a chore. He was trying to let me off easily, he was trying not to show that my suggestion was a big insult. I realized that everything Paul did was to create that time in his backyard with his girls. Everytime I see them in the backyard now it kills me, it kills me that everything he aranged his work schedule and life for has been destroyed. I do know that I slowed down a little, that my time with my son and daughter has become more important to me. I miss you Paul, I wish I could have learned more about how you found such a great ballance in your life. I hope I live long enough to show my children as much love in a lifetime that you showed Julia and Daria in an afternoon. - submitted: 11/6/2001 2:56:21 PM

Alan A. Beaven, a father of three and San Francisco attorney originally from New Zealand, was about to take a year's sabbatical from his law practice to volunteer as the general counsel with Siddha Yoga Meditation in India. Beaven, 48, had been at the meditation foundation's U.S. headquarters in South Fallsburg, N.Y., and was returning to San Francisco for a settlement conference in a case. An Emeryville resident, Beaven specialized in environmental law, representing plaintiffs in pollution lawsuits. He had previously practiced in London, where he was a criminal defense barrister and a Scotland Yard prosecutor, said his longtime law partner, Joseph Tabacco. Beaven was a partner at the firm of Berman, DeValerio, Pease, Tabacco, Burt & Purcillo. ''He certainly was one of the bright stars of the environmental bar,'' Tabacco said. ''He was an excellent trial lawyer who also was very devoted to his family. He was able to find that balance.'' Beaven's wife, Kimi, and their 5-year-old daughter, Sonali, remained in South Fallsburg while he boarded United Flight 93 in Newark. Beaven also is survived by two college-age sons, John and Chris, from a previous marriage. - submitted: 10/19/2001 2:19:02 PM

JOHN BERGIN, 39, of New Dorp, N.Y., took advantage of his firefighter's schedule. He owned a tent rental business and was two weeks shy of finishing renovations on his own bar, a lifelong dream. Bergin also used his free time to take care of his three children while his wife returned to her career as a teacher. ``We were lucky, with his schedule, he could do all these things with the kids,'' said his wife, Madeline Bergin. ``And there was never a question that he would do it.'' He was about to get more time to devote to his family and his business, as he was two and a half years short of retirement from the fire department. - submitted: 10/31/2001 10:10:13 PM

Graham was a musician, a zealot, a raging intelligence, a bon vivant and a clown. He was above all a man who lived in vivid, three-dimensional color that paled much around him to washed-out shades of grey. To the family of Mark Bingham, it is honor to know that I walked this great land with such a great man. As a gay teenager it was truly an inspiration to hear that he was one of the men who tried to stop the terrorists aboard Flight 93. We in the gay community have such a hard time proving ourselves to so many people, but it's people like Mark that I'm thankful for everyday. He had courage when when many others didn't. Mark has truly shown that we in the gay community are people too, good people just like any other American. It's because of people like Mark that I don't have to wake up everyday and deal with the persecution and horror that many in his era and before had to face daily. Thank you Mark Bingham. Mark, to be honest, I learned of you in the magazine modern drummer. I was reading an article about you and how you gave your life for our freedom. In that article I read about you, there was a picture of you sitting behind a drumset, playing drums, and grinning from ear to ear. I wanted to let you know as a drummer, that I have cut out that picture of you behind the drums, and attached it to my drumset. They may have taken you away from us, but I will make sure for THE REST OF MY LIFE, that you will always be behind my drumset as long as I live, even if it is only your picture, and everytime I play There is your picture behind the drumset, happy as can be! It means a lot to me what you sacrificed for me, and the least I can do is make sure you will always have a drumset to be behind. I have been trying to get a hold of your mom to let her know this (my e-mail address is: sksdrummer@hotmail.com if ANYONE can help me get in touch with her! :-))to let her know that you will always have a drumset to stand behind. It would mean so much to me if I could let her know this!
Thank you very much Mark! -Jimbo from Phoenix Arizona - submitted: 8/7/2003 1:06:53 AM

Tuesday Morning

10:03 on a Tuesday morning
In the fall of an American dream
A man is doing what he knows is right
On flight 93
He loved his mom and he loved his dad
He loved his home and he loved his man
But on that bloody Tuesday morning
He died an American

Now you cannot change this
You can't erase this
You can't pretend this is not the truth

Even though he could not marry
Or teach your children in our schools
Because who he wants to love
Is breaking your God's rules
He stood up on a Tuesday morning
In the terror he was brave
And he made his choice
And without a doubt
A hundred lives he must have saved
And the things you might take for granted
Your inalienable rights
Some might chose to deny him
Even though he gave his life
Can you live with yourself in the land of the free
And make him less of a hero than the other three
Well it might begin to change ya
In a field of Pennsylvania

Stand up America
Hear the bell now as it tolls
Wake up America
It's Tuesday morning
Come on let's roll

In Memory of Mark Bingham of Flight 93

Craig Michael Blass   27 Greenlawn, NY United States
Cantor Fitzgerald By all accounts, Craig Blass was living the high life, and he loved it. Bachelor parties in Las Vegas, summer weekends in the Hamptons, the social scene in the city. But there was one other thing he really liked to do that always seemed to surprise people. "He loved to go shopping with me," said Mr. Blass's mother, Barbara Blass. "My friends would say, `He still shops with you?' And I'd say, `Oh, yes.' " He splurged on himself, his mother and others because "he was living the good life, making good money and spending it because he made it," Mrs. Blass said. Mr. Blass, 27, worked as an institutional stock trader for Cantor Fitzgerald. He grew up in Greenlawn, on Long Island, and cheered for the New Jersey Devils hockey team. If he was not out at an athletic event or socializing, he could probably be found on his mother's couch, flipping through the sports channels with his younger brother and their father. He also loved to gamble. "That was one of his joys," Mrs. Blass said. "But I guess if you work on Wall Street you have that in you, you gamble all the time." - submitted: 10/18/2001 9:59:05 PM

We will never forget what we all lost that day. Some lost much more than others. I was walking around the block in my Ridgewood, NJ neighborhood with my then-3-year-old son the weekend before the Sept. 11 attack. As we walked past the Blood's house I saw Richard playing in his backyard with his then-3-year-old son. Now, two years later, our sons are in kindergarten together ... but my son's new friend has not had his father with him for the last two years ... and a father will never get a chance to see his young son (and even younger daughter) grow up ... - submitted: 9/11/2003 6:44:39 AM

Michael L. Bocchino kept a scrapbook of all the fires he fought and the people he helped rescue in his 22 years as a fireman. The first entry dealt with a Harlem apartment fire in June 1980 - when he was 24 - in which two firemen plunged to their deaths. The book's last chapter will be about the World Trade Center, his last fire. As family members compile material for it, his uncle, Leo Piro, a retired fireman, reminds people that his nephew's career started and ended with a disaster. For the last 12 years, Firefighter Bocchino, 45, worked as a chief's aide in Battalion 48 in Brooklyn, helping deploy units at fires. He was devoted to his elderly parents, Michael and Lucy, with whom he lived, and his work, family members said. During a memorial Mass on Oct. 13, his brother Tom talked of the scrapbook, and the people Firefighter Bocchino had saved since 1979. And he lamented the sudden end of his career. "We may never get to meet anyone he might have rescued on Sept. 11." - submitted: 10/31/2001 11:16:11 PM

We have had the fortune to know Alan and his family for only a few years when he was on the same assignment as my husband in Argentina. I wish we had had more time with him. He made a great impact on all of us. The kids loved him and his excellent sense of humor. Wherever he went he was the soul of every event. We spent many fun moments with him and his family. Unfortunately our paths separated and we lost contact with Alan and his family therefore we have not had an opportunity to express our sorrow to Julie and his sons. Ever since we heard about the tragic demise Julie and their sons have been on our minds. I hope they can find solace in the thought that everybody loved him. Our prayers are with him and his own. More than 700 people attended the weekend memorial service for Kelly Ann Booms in her parents' hometown of Blue Ash, Ohio. After the packed service, tables, chairs, and food--many gifts of food--appeared at the Booms' home. Hundreds of people followed. ''We were overwhelmed. There were people I didn't even know who were there,'' said Richard L. Booms Sr., Kelly Ann's father. ''It's just amazing what people are doing for us. You don't even ask--things you don't even think of--they're just done.'' Booms, a 24-year-old employee of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston, was aboard American Airlines Flight 11, bound for California on a four-week assignment in Long Beach.. As the community rallied around the Booms family into the evening, friends from Kelly Ann's childhood in Michigan and high school years in Australia remembered her as vivacious, strong-willed and caring. At her parents' home, the procession of well-wishers didn't end until after midnight. Kelly was on a last-minute business trip to Los Angeles. She hadn't even unpacked at her new Brookline apartment, said her friend, Cathy Saleh. ''My kids were in love wth her,'' Saleh said. She was a 1995 graduate of Miami University of Ohio. She leaves her parents and three younger brothers. - submitted: 10/19/2001 2:30:06 PM

Here was Richard E. Bosco's typical morning: He would wake about 6:30 and hop in the shower. He would be joined by Abby, his 2-year-old daughter, who had recently decided that showering with dad was a fun way to start her day. After shower time, she would stand on a stool beside him as he lathered up. With her toy razor blade, they shaved side by side, chatting away. Mr. Bosco taught his son, Richie, 3 1/2, how to tackle. Then he brought him inside for a glass of strawberry milk. Mr. Bosco grew up in Suffern, N.Y., where he met his wife, Traci. They started dating when she was 17. "He just seemed genuine, like I could trust him right away," she recalled. "I just felt comfortable." They married in 1995, and Mrs. Bosco describes him as a sweet, sweet dream of a husband: he lavished her with attention and compliments. He did not wait to be asked to do the dishes, take out the garbage or throw in a load of laundry. "We never fought," she said. "It was total teamwork." Mr. Bosco, 34, did not work at the World Trade Center. A financial specialist for Citibank, he was trying to cultivate new clients. On Sept. 11 his first appointment of the day was at Cantor Fitzgerald. - submitted: 10/31/2001 11:05:50 PM

I am in 7th grade and go to Hastings Middle School. On Veterins Day our shchool took the day to remeber all that has happened. We were sent to a certin class room where we would learn more a certin event that hd happened through out history. Then at the end all the class would get together and we would disscuse what we had learned.I was sent to a room and there we disscused Septermber 11th. We were allowed to speek freely about what we though about it and if we had questions we could ask the class to see if they new. We later decide to make something that would represent the victioms of september 11th. So we decided to make a colage of the American Flag and we would write some of the victimes names on the flag. One of the names that I wrote on the flag was Shawn Edward Bowman. His name was in the newspaper and a breif summray about him. I was deeply touched at how such a nice person he seemed to be. So I felt that I should honner him in some way. So I got a merrci band with his name on it and I am proud to where it and I have never taken it off so that never a day goes by that I do not reconize or heros and great people of America. I purchased a bracelet that was made o honor each of you heros that left us six months ago in the WTC. Each band has a name of one fire fighter. Mine has the name of David Arce. I am sure you are with him right now. I thought for some reason that I would find out some information on his life so that I couldhonor his memory by telling his srory. What I found was a heart renching story of not just one but two heros that left this world together. The brotherhood in the fire departments in incredable. Thank You both for what you did. Please look over the fire fighters here on earth to keep us saf eas we go on to do best we can. Your memory will live on and your name will forever be more to me than part of a list. - submitted: 3/13/2002 6:21:00 AM

After watching the show Brothers on Holy Ground this afternoon, I was so moved that I wanted to express my sincere sypathies to his family.

Know that your dear one is not forgotten, nor are any of the others who perished that horrible day.

My thoughts and prayers are and always have been with the families of those who lost loved ones. They also are with our military who continues to fight for our freedoms.

God bless us all, and take comfort that your Michael is not forgotten.

Daniel Brandhorst, 42, lived in a home perched on the lip of a canyon in the Hollywood Hills with his partner Ronald Gamboa and their adopted 3-year-old son. They were returning from a vacation in Boston and Cape Cod. The couple had been together for 14 years. Brandhorst was the serious one, the lawyer and accountant, the man who dreamed of becoming a professor. Gamboa, 33, was the happy-go-lucky one, the beloved manager of a Gap store in Santa Monica, the family man with a glint of mischievousness in his eye and an ever-ready arsenal of jokes. If Gamboa's sister or friend said ''Isn't that cute'' about a puppy or ''Isn't that beautiful'' about a sunset, Gamboa would retort: ''What am I?'' Both had moved from small towns--Brandhorst from Liverpool, N.Y., Gamboa from Anchorage, Ky.--to New York City, where they met. They moved to Los Angeles a few years later when Brandhorst was transferred to another office of his company, PricewaterhouseCoopers. They loved to travel around the world, hang out with a close group of friends and visit family. They lavished attention on the blue-eyed 3-year-old they adopted as an infant and named after Daniel's brother David. - submitted: 10/19/2001 1:03:05 PM

I really dont know what to say to console your grieving hearts... but Im trying hard to understand whats goin on in this world and why someone would want to take the life of a wonderful baby boy. I never knew David or his family but when reading through the memorial I saw his age and I just wanted to cry. Im a 14 year old student at MCHS and the day this tragedy occured we were glued to the tv... but I never expected to see such young people dying... it just doesnt seem right. I guess what Im trying to say is Im sorry to everyone that lost a loved one and Im sorry for David... rest in peace! - submitted: 12/13/2001 7:02:28 AM

Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you living the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day,
Your dream is over… or has it just begun????
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize it and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you’ll hear and see
This magic new dimension
I…..- will be watching over you
I…..- am gonna help you see it through
I…..- will protect you in the night
I…..- I’m smiling next to you, in Silent Lucidity
[Visualize your dream]
[Record it in the present tense]
[Put it into a permanent form]
[If you persist in your efforts]
[You will achieve a dream come true]
[Dream come true]
[How's that then, All Set?]
[Help me]
If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you’ve built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but…
I-….. Will be watching over you
I- …..am gonna help you see it through
I- …..will protect you in the night
I- …..am smiling next to you….

I was looking on this site to find young children and family's that i can hold roses for on Sept. 11th and this just shocked me. I am 16 years old, and i am so hurt by all of this. Today I recieved a ribbon to wear in memorial. Along with the ribbon was a picture and story of one of the innocent victims. I read Bernard's story and I am deeply sorry for your loss. He was truly a little angel. I put his picture on my wall as a reminder of life's fragility. I want you to know that he will be remembered even though I never knew him. Looking at the huge number of names listed I begin to cry, I lost no-one yet I lost over 2000. Bernard Brown however was so young and so inocent, Semptember the 11th 2001 was the first day at secondry school for my younger brother, he was then 11 hemself much like Bernard Brown. I feel so useless and am in that I can't give much, but I can give my constant apologises for as long as I live. I am forever sorry to the people close to Bernard, yours forever James Edward Mowbray, England 14yrs - submitted: 9/14/2003 10:19:20 AM

Dear Bernard-

When the list of names was published 4 years ago, your name stood out: you were the same age as many of my students. I chose right then to say a prayer for you and your family and friends and to do so again each year on this day.

If the thoughts and prayers of one who never knew you can help comfort those who love and miss you, then you, your family and friends have mine.

I knew no one that perished that day. But the other day I had the privilege of donating a few dollars to sponsor a couple of names of those brave people for an upcoming rememberance activity here in Branson. As they handed me the little card with your name on it, my hands shook and my eyes began to tear... here was a hero right here in my hands. That little card brought it all home to me, and the grief I felt that day for so many that were half a country away became grief for someone I now knew. God bless you, and thank you for your life... for your compassion... and for your dedication to mankind. Lori, Branson, MO - submitted: 8/27/2002 9:13:50 AM

World Trade Center - firefighter , New York Fire Department - submitted: 10/3/2001 8:39:31 AM

When firefighter Greg Buck left for work the morning of Sept. 11, he asked his dad to please walk his dog, Emily, since he was running late. He arrived at the Brooklyn firehouse in time, however, to race with Engine Co. 201 to the burning towers of the World Trade Center. In a search for survivors, he and three other company members entered the South Tower 10 minutes before it collapsed upon them. "I wish I could give more details - we just don't know what happened to them," said company captain Luke Lynch. He described Buck as "a great firefighter." "I don't know a person who loved his job as much Greg did. He always had a smile on his face," said his father, Ernie. Buck, 37, was also a licensed nurse, having graduated from Staten Island University training at the top of his class six years ago, his father said. Two weeks after graduation he was called to the New York City Fire Department. He did equally well in his fire department exam, "scoring 100," his father said. "He was part of an elite class." Born in Brooklyn, Buck graduated from Xaverian High School there and attended college for two years. He and his wife, Katherine, were married two years ago and lived on Staten Island. His mother, Josephine, is a retired New York City schoolteacher, and a brother, Eric, is a retired city police sergeant. In his spare time, Buck loved to make furniture, and he and his father often worked together on carpentry projects. -Rhoda Amon - submitted: 10/18/2001 10:56:40 PM

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all the families but I wanted to say a special memorial to the family of Greg Buck. I wear the bracelet with his name on it and he will always be a "hero" to me. God bless you Greg and thank you for saving the lives of others and making the ultimate sacrifice. Dennis was a big man, 6 feet, 210 pounds, with an athletic build. He had been a star lacrosse player at Lynbrook High School and graduated from the University of Maryland, which he attended on a full lacrosse scholarship. "He still walks like he's carrying a lacrosse stick," said his wife, Cathleen, speaking of him in the present tense, although she had just come from making funeral arrangements. He was 38, a bond broker at Cantor Fitzgerald, the father of three girls ranging in age from 22 months to 6 years. A memory his wife holds dear is the massive Mr. Buckley taking his three girls, with their three pink Barbie doll towels, to the swim club. His eldest daughter, Mary Kate, had her sixth birthday 12 days after the attack, and Mrs. Buckley decided to go on with the party. "She's 6," Mrs. Buckley said. "Not having it would be like almost taking it away from her." She speaks of what has become a community of loss, the World Trade Center people who did not come home, and begins to weep. "As short as it was, I was really lucky to know him. Part of me looks at these younger widows. I at least have my family." - submitted: 10/18/2001 10:02:00 PM

Tom Burke was the quintessential Wall Street man. He broke into the bond business this way: It was 1985 and he was fresh out of Holy Cross. Nobody wanted him. Undeterred, he put on his suit every day and attended training courses at Liberty Brokerage - uninvited. Impressed, the company hired him after three months. Eventually, Mr. Burke, 38, became a partner at Cantor Fitzgerald, heading the government bond desk. He lived with this wife and children in Bedford Hills, N.Y. He had a big personality. He knew how to hold his drink and when to hold his cards. He was the kind of person you wanted to be seated next to at a dinner party. That was the Wall Street man. There was also the private man. "He was successful, but that's not what made him happiest," said his sister, Nancy Salter. "It was his family." That was the part the young guns did not see, the part not learned in college. Tom Burke's mother always had a happy birthday. Tom Burke's family never wondered where Daddy was. Tom Burke's friends never lay sick, alone. - submitted: 10/31/2001 10:19:14 PM

Charles ''Chick'' Burlingame III, 51, the captain of Flight 77, was a veteran pilot and former Navy officer. A graduate of Anaheim High School, he went on to the Naval Academy and flew for the Navy. He lived in Virginia and once worked in the Pentagon. But he retained a fondness for the home teams, the Angels and Lakers. Indeed, he'd hoped that his wife, Sheri, would accompany him to Los Angeles so they could attend a baseball game, but he couldn't get seats that were worth the trouble. He wanted to watch the Angels while celebrating his 52nd birthday, which was Wednesday. Danger was a constant, if highly unlikely, part of the job, said his sister, Debra Burlingame. ''He was aware that when he went to work there was always a possibility of some kind of catastrophe, but it was very, very remote,'' she said. ''I don't think he thought about hijacking.'' He is also survived by a daughter. Burial is planned at Arlington National Cemetery, where Burlingame's father, a Navy and Air Force veteran, is buried. - submitted: 10/19/2001 1:06:45 PM

Thomas E. Burnett Jr., 38, an executive of a company that makes medical devices for people suffering from heart failure, was returning home after visiting a company subsidiary in New Jersey. He had originally scheduled a later flight but flew home earlier to be with his family. The San Ramon resident was senior vice president and chief operating officer of Pleasanton-based Thoratec Corp. and was the father of three girls--a 3-year-old toddler and 5-year-old twins. Thoratec President D. Keith Grossman said that Burnett was ''an exceptionally bright man'' with a love of competition, a keen wit and a ''very strong sense of right and wrong.'' He was an avid reader of history and had busts of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Winston Churchill in his office. Burnett, who frequently traveled for work, called his wife, Deena Burnett, on his cell phone four times during his final flight. He told her of the hijacking and that he other passengers were going to attempt to stop it. ''He didn't review his life story or say goodbye or tell me wonderful things,'' said Deena Burnett, who met her husband while she was working as a Delta Air Lines flight attendant. ''He was assessing the problem and trying to solve it. He was coming home, you see.'' - submitted: 10/19/2001 1:07:59 PM

If the upstairs light was on, Ms. Burns, 48, was probably reading a book. She never took work home. "Work was work and home was home," said her mother, Eunice. Still, Ms. Burns climbed high in the corporate world, to the upper floors of the World Trade Center, where she was a vice president with the Fiduciary Trust International. She was good to her parents, they said. The three watched television together in the evenings and the women went shopping. "She liked high-end things like Ann Taylor," her mother said. Of course her life was more than work and home and shopping, her mother said. She had an interest in the wider world, and toured places like Egypt, Spain and Iceland. - submitted: 10/31/2001 10:31:48 PM

Life had just begun to get sweet for Milton Bustillo. In February, he and the love of his life, Laura Spordone, had a baby girl. In July, the couple married and began searching and saving for a home. Mr. Bustillo, an avid baker, set aside every penny from his job as a computer network operator at Cantor Fitzgerald. He was even planning to market his own line of cookies and cakes over the Internet. All the planning paid off, it seemed, when the couple finally found their dream house in Toms River, N.J. But one week before the house was to be theirs, the World Trade Center was destroyed. Mr. Bustillo, 37, disappeared. "Everything was just beginning for him," said Mr. Bustillo's younger brother, Gilberto. "He was so determined to do things right. He took his time starting a family and buying a home. He wanted to be happy." This week, a few days after his daughter, Alessandra, was baptized, Mr. Bustillo's body was found by rescuers at ground zero, and identified by his wedding ring. The family, his brother said, is convinced that the discovery was a gift from God. "At least we can say goodbye to him the right way." - submitted: 10/18/2001 10:05:40 PM

I just saw a piece of Larry King with John Walsh where they showed Milton's picture after September 11th and I am so sorry you lost him………sooooooooo sorry. I hope his little girl will grow up knowing just how much her Daddy loved her. My heartfelt sorrow extends to his wife, baby girl, brother and other family and friends. God Bless him and all of you.

When I hear your name called each year it returns me to St. Patricks day 1990 something. You were in a pub on second ave after the march . Thats when I first learned that you had traded your NYPD blues for a green knit cap and a big old smile. I cant remember you happier...I keep that image with me..
I'll see you again my brother..Kelly - submitted: 9/12/2009 4:08:12 PM

Although I do not know you, I am deeply saddened by your loss. I can only imagine your personality….I am sure you were a fantastic person who will be greatly missed. Your death was senseless. You were an innocent victim. I, as well as many Americans, pray for you, your family and all the victims of this tragedy. Rest in Peace Tim.
